First Users Workshop
The first NARCCAP Users Workshop was held at NCAR on Feb. 14-15,
2008. The meeting introduced users to the project and provided them
with their first look at NARCCAP data, and also provided the PIs with
valuable information about the needs of the user community. Meeting
materials, including presentations and discussion materials, are
linked from the meeting
agenda.

Special Session Fall AGU 2005
H57: Role of Observed Precipitation in Atmospheric and Land Surface
Models
Precipitation observations are beginning to be used for more than
just validation of numerical weather prediction and climate
models. Because atmospheric model precipitation is still not very
accurate, off-line and coupled land-surface models have begun to
employ observed precipitation instead. Precipitation observations are
also beginning to be used for a new generation of atmospheric
analyses. The purpose of this special session is to exchange recent
scientific knowledge on the impacts and techniques for using
precipitation observations in numerical analyses, simulations, and
predictions. Precipitation observations include conventional rain
gauge observations as well as radar and satellite
estimates. Presentations describing assimilation techniques for
precipitation observations are encouraged. Presentations describing
the impacts of incorporating precipitation observations on weather and
climate simulations and predictions in atmosphere and land surface
models are especially welcome.
