The Data Pipeline: Once the RCMs have finished running,
there is still a considerable amount of work that must be done to make
the data ready for end users. First, the model output must be
post-processed into CF-compliant netCDF. Then it must be transferred
from the modeling team's home institution to the data repository at
LLNL. (This typically involves shipping terabyte hard-drives
cross-country.) Once the data arrives at LLNL, a backup copy is made
to the NERSC HPSS for disaster-recovery purposes. Then the data must
be checked for correct formatting and data integrity. Finally, an
archival copy is made to the NCAR MSS, the data is transferred to its
final resting place on disk, and the files are published through the
ESG data portal.
Modeling Run Status
The following table shows the status of the NARCCAP modeling runs.
No firm ETAs are currently available for the completion of runs in
progress.

Exceptions
The following are exceptions to the availability indicated above:
CRCM/ECPC/HRM3/WRFP_ncep zg500: This variable
IS currently available, although the rest of Table 3 is not.
CRCM_ncep mrro 1981: This file is missing; a replacement file is being generated.
CRCM_cgcm3 all variables: Data for December 2070 is not yet available.
CRCM_cgcm3 mrso, mrfso, prw: These variables are still being checked.
ECPC spdmax: This variable is not available from the ECPC model.
HRM3 spdmax, uas, vas: Wind variables from HRM3 have been calculated on a staggered grid, which is offset by half a gridcell relative to the grid used for all the other variables.
HRM3_ncep sic, snd, tauu, tauv: These variables are not available for the NCEP-driven run.
HRM3_ncep evps, rsdt: Data for these variables has not yet been post-processed.
HRM3_hadcm3 all variables: There are occasional, isolated missing_values (typically no more than 1 per file) scattered throughout these files. We believe they are due to hardware error, not problems with the model runs.
HRM3_hadcm3 mrro 2056: Data is not properly masked over oceans; use caution working with this file.
HRM3_hadcm3 prw, snm: These variables are not yet available.
MM5I_ncep ps, rsds: Data for these variables has not yet been post-processed.
MM5I_ccsm Table 3: Currently, only certain Table 3 variables (prc, psl, snd, ts, zg500, and zmla) are available. The others are still being post-processed.
MM5I_ccsm rsds: This variable is not yet available.
MM5I_ccsm all variables: The driving data from the CCSM historical run ends one year short of the NARCCAP coverage period, on 1999/12/31 instead of 2001/01/01.
RCM3_ncep mrfso: This variable is not available from the RegCM3 model.
RCM3_ncep evps mrros hfls rlds rlus rsus rsut: These variables are being reprocessed to correct post-processing errors.
RCM3_ncep prc prw snm tauu tauv: These variables are still being checked.
RCM3_gfdl all variables: Data for the last two timesteps of both the current and future runs is not available.
RCM3_gfdl rsds: Data for the months of February 1985 and September 2058 is missing. Replacement files are being generated.
WRFP_ncep all variables: The NCEP-driven WRFP run begins 1979-09-01, not 1979-01-01. This is an error that results in a shortened spin-up period, but is expected to have minimal effect on variables except those closely tied to soil moisture.
WRFP_ccsm all variables: The driving data from the CCSM historical run ends one year short of the NARCCAP coverage period, on 1999/12/31 instead of 2001/01/01.
GFDL timeslice mrro, mrros: No data is available for
these variables because runoff values were not correctly computed in
the 50km model.
GFDL timeslice mrfso, rootd: No data is available for
these variables, because there are no variables in the model that
correspond directly.
GFDL timeslice cli, clw: No data is available for
these variables. They were not saved because the storage requirements
proved prohibitive.
GFDL timeslice wa: No data is available for this
variable because there is no vertical wind component diagnostic
variable in this model. Instead, the vertical velocity in pressure
coordinates (variable wap, units Pa/sec) is provided.
GFDL timeslice all 3-D variables: 3-D data from the
GFDL timeslice is on native pressure levels, not interpolated to 25-mb
heights.
GFDL timeslice landtyp, lat, lon: These variables are
not yet available due to unresolved questions regarding format and
representation.
